How Cursive Handwriting Practice is Beneficial for Kids

If your child is complaining about the Cursive Handwriting Practice given in his school, you should tell him that it will help for his development in a number of ways. Yes, research shows that learning to write in cursive brings a wide range of benefits to kids that they will never be in a position to get from printing letters or from keyboarding. It is stated that cursive writing practice is an excellent tool that will help with cognitive development in kids. Particularly, this practice is known to train the brain to learn functional specialization. This is stated to be something related to the optimal efficiency of the brain. When a kid learns to read and write in cursive with repetitive practice, he/she will surely be in a position to efficiently integrate fine motor skills with tactile and visual processing abilities. The multi-sensory experience that kids get from this handwriting practice will support cognitive function and development to a great extent.

Dyslexia and Cursive Writing Practice:

You might be surprised to know that cursive handwriting practice will help with easing the symptoms associated with dyslexia in kids. According to a new research, it was found that dyslexia occurs because of the functional non-correlation in communication between the language and auditory centers of the brain. But, these communication problems can be solved when a child gets cursive writing practice. It was found that when the tactile experience of using our hands is involved, there will be a better association for memory and learning. The good thing in India as compared to many foreign countries is that most schools give cursive writing for kids as a practice right from the early stages. So, your kid will be in a position to prevent reversal and confusion in letters like ‘b’, ‘d’, ‘t’, ‘f’, ‘g’, ‘q’ and ‘p’. Generally, little kids will have confusion in these letters as they look more or less similar.

What are the other benefits?

Besides the above-mentioned benefits associated with cursive handwriting practice, it is also known to improve spelling ability in kids. It can help with the development of internal control systems and it reduces the potential for errors in writing. In addition, this handwriting practice will help with improvement of reading skills in kids and will also help in the prevention of huge spaces in writing. In addition, cursive handwriting is always considered good as it looks good. This, in turn, will lead to academic success and improved self-esteem, which will be of great help to the future development of your kid. Even, this cursive alphabet writing practice is known to help kids with special needs. It is also something known to inspire creativity in kids and when we get older, those with cursive handwriting are known to have an active brain as compared to others. So, let your child get this practice and stay healthy by all means.
