Drawbacks Of Enrolling Your Kid Too Late To The School

If you are wondering whether delaying a year of school enrolment of your kid can be the right decision, the thing to remember is that you are not alone and many parents have this question. There is a wide range of theories about this and some studies even show that delaying the kid from entering into playschools can be advantageous in the long run for him/her. Nevertheless, there is also a negative side to this argument and parents are recommended not to delay the enrollment too long as it can create a few problems. Here are some details that will help parents in arriving at the right decision about delaying or not:

Age difference:

Even though, it might seem to be a good idea to delay the playschool enrolment by a year, such that kid can get closer with parents, but the fact to be remembered by parents is that their kid will be older than the other kids when they delay the enrolment. Even though, this might not seem to be a big issue in the earlier years of the kid, when he/she grows, this age difference can play a role on his subconscious mind.

Also, when there is a delay in enrolment by a year, there will be a delay in passing out by a year as well. This can create a whole lot of problems, when the child gets ready for higher education in the future. On an average, kids should be around 17-18 years when they complete their school education at the end of higher education. A year later than this is not acceptable.

Special kids:

Some kids are special kids and they are naturally far ahead of their age with respect to mental development. When it comes to this type of kid, parents should decide to enroll in play school, early rather than late. The reason is that these types of kids get restless at home.

Furthermore, when the parents delay the enrolling process, when the other kids of similar age have started schooling, it will naturally create a doubt to the neighbors about the mental development of the kid. This is something that should be prevented at any cost and admitting kids at the correct age is highly important.

Long-term concerns and admission issues:

Some secondary and senior secondary schools generally have strict admission procedures and among the many factors they consider, age is an important consideration. When schools consider age as an important consideration, children of older age might have an unfair advantage as compared to other kids. When top rated schools deny the admission on the grounds of age, parents will have no other option other than looking for a second-rated school. This is one of the important factors to consider when the parents think about delaying play school admission.

Even though, the points stated above are long-term considerations, they should never be overlooked on any grounds. Furthermore, schools might not permit these types of older kids to switch from their adopted age group, if a child has difficulty in coping with the subjects.

Conclusion:

When it comes to kids, who are admitted early in playschools, they will always have a chronological advantage and this will be beneficial for them in a number of ways in the future. So, the conclusion is that parents can be the best decision makers considering the future of their kid. They should never consider delaying the enrolment can be advantageous for the kid at this stage as he will not have to leave his mom and dad and should not have to cry for the same.

Even though, he/she might have initial hesitancy about moving away from parents, once they get to the playschool atmosphere, they will happily start to the school. Also, enrolling in playschool early will help in improving the speech of the kid at an early age and even in case parents are concerned that the child has not started to talk yet, he will start to talk as soon as he sees and plays with kids of similar age group.
