How Much Is Too Much In The Case Of School Fees In India?

In general, school fees in India vary on the basis of varied parameters and schools follow different approaches towards deciding the fee structure. For instance, there are different educational boards at school level in India and each of these boards has their own fee structure and also they are regulated. Some of the factors considered in the fee deciding arena include medium of engagement, quality of education, facilities and infrastructure. When it comes to boards of education, schools in India follow any of the following boards: CBSE, ICSE, International Board, State Board and Matriculation Board.

Annual increase in fee structure:

It will be possible to find that schools in India increase their fee by around 9% on a yearly basis. This is something considered quite normal under the regular budgeting standards of each school. This is generally done for profit purpose and for improving infrastructure and also for improvement of amenities to teachers and students. So, it is the responsibility of parents to check whether the facilities are actually provided to their kids, so that they can make sure that the money they pay is actually utilized for the benefit of the child. Furthermore, with the increasing inflation year after year, schools have no other option other than increasing the fee. Schools that follow the practicing of increasing the fee once in two years, generally calculate their revised fee in accordance with the increased average rate of inflation and this is also considered a fair practice.

Good quality teaching staff:

To retain good teachers, it becomes important that schools should pay them more. Considering this factor, schools increase the fee on a yearly basis. To keep the good quality education, schools will have to pay higher for experienced and qualified teachers as they demand higher pay.

International schools:

International schools in India, generally function as per international standards. In the case of high school students, international school can charge somewhere between Rs. 3-4 Lakhs per year and it is true that this fee is higher as compared to the fee borne by many people in India towards their collegiate education. Even though, this fee will look like higher, the international schools provide high standard education and also they encourage the students to take part in sports and other extracurricular activities to ensure their overall development. They are prepared in such a way that they can face this ever-changing world without any difficulty.

Nursery Education:

In the recent past, there is a considerable increase in the cost of nursery education in India. Many schools have understood the importance of interest shown by parents towards enrolling their small kid into a good nursery school as they have understood the importance of the right foundation. So, schools have started taking advantage of this demand among parents. It is the responsibility of the parents in selecting the right school.

Conclusion:

Fee structure in schools in India cannot be defined in a nutshell as different factors and variants are considered in the process of deciding the fee to be charged to a particular class. So, it is a real challenge for parents in the selection of a school that provides good quality education at comparatively low fee.
