Tips To Prepare For an Interview With The School Authorities

As soon as the initial formalities of purchasing application form, filling it up in the right manner, submitting it with appropriate supporting documents are completed, the next step is to wait for the threatening interview call from the school. But, the thing to remember here is that fear is the disintegrating element in the human personality and so students waiting for school interview should first prepare themselves to get out of the fear. They should take all steps to replace fear with confidence and courage and here are some tips that will help them in preparing for an interview with school authorities:

The process of preparation:

If the admission is for KG classes, the interview will not be more than parents and their interest to seek admission to the particular school. In such case, parents should be careful not to exert much pressure on the child as things can change negative when they do this.

In the case of middle school admission for a child changing from one school to another, there will generally be entrance test to judge the level of knowledge of the child. Once the entrance test is cleared, the next step will be interview. Let us now get into details as to how to prepare the child for the same:

First impression should be the best:

Parents should be careful about dressing up the child well for the interview as the first impression will always count. But, it should not look like that the parents have taken some extra efforts to dress up the child for the occasion, but he should look casual with formal attire suitable for interview. Parents can talk to the child to make him feel confident about attending the interview and getting through the same.

Bio-data:

Generally, when it comes to job interview, people use to prepare bio-data and here in the case of school admission, parents should take steps to prepare a bio-data for the child. Here, parents can highlight some of the talents of the kid and can articulate the same. Parents should also make sure to specify the extracurricular participation of the kid. But, they should not consider this to be means of marketing the child. The bio-data should not sound like marketing the child, but it should have simple statements with more focus towards the certifications earned by the kid.

Practice questions:

The school authorities might put-forth questions from any corners, but parents should make sure that the child gives an intelligent answer for each question. The child should be trained to give answers in such a way that the interviews should not feel like asking any further questions to gather more information from the kid. In the case of admission to high school, students should take steps to get to the website of the school and they should gather details about the vision and mission along with results shown by the school in public examinations. Some of the questions that might be posted to parents include:

  • Why do you want your child to join in our school?
  • What talents will your child showcase, if he is admitted to the school?
  • How will you meet the emotional needs of your child as both of you are working?
  • What are your plans to devote time towards the studies of your kid?

Conclusion:

Parents should make sure that the child is properly dressed up for the school interview and also they should instill a positive mindset in the child. Parents should be ready to show the best respect to the school authorities and should not give up, even though; there is negative response initially from the authorities. At the same time, they should not show their aggressiveness and should put forth their points in calm and composed manner. They should make the school authorities a part of their problem and should see a solution from them and should avoid immature behavior at all costs. Parents should never show ‘I don’t care’ attitude just because both of them are working for good organizations. They should step into the shoes of school authorities as the school will be more concerned towards admitting a good student.

Besides all these things, parents should be good listeners first and after getting admission, they should spend time to write a letter thanking the principal for the precious time. This will help in developing a good relationship with the school as their child is going to spend most of his time in school and this is place where his upbringing will be put to test. So, considering the future of their lovable child, parents should be ready to give their best to seek admission to a good school.
